Standup-debut

Debut: February 2023, Stockholm. While at a party John lost a bet and agreed to do an open mic night in his home town. Later sober and in a panic, he signed up for a weekend stand up course in Stockholm with Ami Pauli. He finished the weekend with a debut set at Norra Brun in front of a small crowd.

John jokes about everything that he thinks is serious. Drug use, racism, homophobia, men-women relations, cultural hypocracy, xenophopia, religion, mental health, language, etc...if its serious, he will joke about it. He never does jokes just to get a laugh, but tries to hold up a mirror to society's assumptions and prejudices so that we all can laugh at ourselves and our often ridiculous beliefs. If you can laugh at a group of people, then they are likely welcome in your society.

As an expat, John finds himself in a state of mellan-mellanförskap - meaning not exactly Swedish, not exactly invandrare, not a second generation Swede, He is in between the in betweeners. This enables John to play both sides, while touching on stereotypes and racism all while including himself in a self-depreciating manner. Telling engaing stories based on real life events, you never know where ithe story will take you. Always strives to be funny and interesting.

John is reletively new to comedy and commutes several hours to do sets in Gothenburg, His biggest merit has been playing at Joe’ Eagen’s Malmö club as warm up act in front over over 200 people. John has also gotten small gigs at parties - more specifically roasts. His specialty.
